The New Remnants Dance Orchestra offers a variety of entertainment options steeped in the Big Band tradition. Quality ensembles in a variety of sizes are available from the roaring 17-piece Big Band with unparalleled vocalist Dick Mackey in command, to the intimate octet. Their recipe for a fresh and exciting big band sound has always been authentic charts, a swinging rhythm section and hot jazz. The New Remnants Dance Orchestra has set the standard of Big Band excellence.
The New Remnants Dance Orchestra was formed in 1983 as a campus bar rehearsal band. From these humble beginnings, the Orchestra graduated to perform for many of Ohios premiere events. The New Remnants Dance Orchestra has entertained thousands at a variety of venues including club dates, weddings, trust funds, benefits, and galas.
The New Remnants Dance Orchestra describes their sound in the words of Duke Ellington, "Reminiscing in Tempo"; they feature beautiful melodies from Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, and of course Duke; combining them with the energy of Louis Jordan, Count Basie and Frank Sinatra, making your event one of elegance and fun!
