Larry Lee & Back in the Day |
|
|
Back In The Day was formed in August, 2002. Larry wanted to put together a group of musicians/vocalist that would rival any national act. Back in the Day's very first show was with Chante' Moore, Kenny Lattimore, and Joe. Larry convinced some promoter friends to put them on the show, and the rest is history. The very next show, the following week, was with the world famous Isley Brothers. Since then, the band has shared the bill with more national acts that can be named in this paragraph. The group has more than 100 years of collective performance experience. Several members of Back In The Day have been members of some of the greatest groups of all time. Groups such as ,The Four Tops, Temptations, Dramatics, Bill Moss and the Celestials, Mary Wilson, Chaka Khan, Parliament/Funkadelic, and the Contours. While growing up in Dayton, Larry played in groups with members of Slave, Roger Troutman, Ohio Players, and Lakeside. Back In The day is also starting to capture a national/international audience with past performances held in Aruba, West Indies, Florida (Super Bowl XXXIX), Ohio, Indiana, Illinois (for Steadman Graham), and Pennsylvania along with performances scheduled to take place in the Virgin Islands, Los Angeles, Vegas, and Japan. In their home town of Detroit, Back In The Day was the busiest band in the city during Super Bowl XL week. The band performed 7 shows in 5 days. Performances for major parties such as NFL Commissioner Paul Tagliabues' Super Bowl Party, the perfect party held by the perfect 72 Miami Dolphins, and The NFL Management Councils' private party. Lastly, Chrysler Motor Corp. has adopted Back In The Day as their personal band with performances all over the country for various Chrysler events. Back In The Day has two Detroit Music Awards nominations under its belt for the R and B band of the year, and Larry was voted the outstanding urban/funk musician of the year (2006).
