El Calido Viento

rodolfo.jpg (35319 bytes) El Calido Viento is a brilliant ensemble that offers a musical and cultural journey throughout the classical music styles of Spain and Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Columbia, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Venezuela, Uruguay, etc.).  These pieces are presented through the form of didactic performances of some of the finest music written by Hispanic composers.   Music by Rodrigo, Gade, Villalobos, Ponce, Jobim, Lecuona, Vazquez and Goodwin are part of their repertoire.  This ensemble has been promoting Hispanic music and bringing to its audiences a distinctive definition of what music and fine arts are in Latin America.

Rodolfo Vazquez, was born in Mexico City.  He served as assistant flute professor at the National COnservatory of Music and as principal flautist in the National COnservatory Philharmonic Orchestra, both in Mexico City.

Rodolfo has performed extensively as a soloist and in chamber music ensembles in the United States and Mexico, and he is currently director of El Calido Viento, the Nottingham Trio, the Cielo Azul Jazz Trio, the SIlver and Spruce duo and the Ohio Hispanic Fine Arts Association.

Rodolfo studied with the eminent flutists James Galway, Alain Marion, and Geoffrey Gilbert.
