For over 26 years, Dave Powers has been a vital part of the Columbus, Ohio music scene as a pianist, keyboardist, and vocalist. Considered one of the most successful musicians in the local spectrum, Dave manages to win over the hearts of all who hear him perform. From clubs and restaurants to corporate events and private parties, his vast repertoire is as diverse as the audience that he entertains. Dave can be seen and heard playing around Columbus and throughout the Midwest on solo gigs, as well as with Powerhouse Trio, the Dave Powers Trio, and a six-piece group called "Powerhouse" that provides entertainment for corporate events and conventions. Corporate clients include the Longaberger Company, Huntington Banks, Huntington Investments, Creative Memories, The Limited, and many others. In addition, Dave is associated with the Jazz Arts Group of Columbus, and has performed as a featured artist with the Columbus Jazz Orchestra. He has served as musical director for the late tenor saxophonist Rusty Bryant, Gene Walker's Generations, and guitarist Wilbert Longmire. In 1998, Dave played and toured throughout Europe, Finland and the Caribbean with trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Dave is mentioned in the book, "Listen For The Jazz: Keynotes in Columbus' History" which features musicians who have contributed to the jazz scene in Columbus and nationwide.

Recently, Dave has been featured on the PBS Television Series "The Piano Guy" with host Scott Houston. The show teaches how to have fun playing the piano without having to deal with the formalities of lessons, and the show is seen on over 150 stations around the country. Dave's first love is obviously music. Besides performing, Dave is a collector of music, records and recordings. His huge collection of 78 rpm records got the attention of Columbus DJ Maxx Faulkner at local NPR affiliate WCBE-FM, and Dave has since hosted a radio program called "78 Corner". "I've always wanted to do this - play records and have a radio show! What a blast!" - D.P. On the restaurant scene, Dave has performed at Bexley's Monk (13 years), Hyde Park Grille with his own trio (7 years), Smith and Wollensky at Easton Town Center (4 years) and Lindey's Restaurant locations in German Village and Polaris Fashion Place. Dave's recent steady engagements include The Top Steak House (solo), and the newly remodeled Mitchell's Ocean Club at Easton (Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday nights, solo). |
